I feel like this is the wrong category.
It can help by allowing them to know what all is in the house that may not be visible to the naked or untrained eye. Maybe there is pipe damage, maybe the air conditioning is broken, maybe the foundation of the house is unstable because of the neighbors tree over there. If the average consumer went ahead and bought the house without an inspection, something major may be wrong with it that they don't find out about for a few weeks until their pipes burst and they're stuck with a mortgage on a house that they just bought but can't live in.
