Stave 4 Summary
Explanation:
The phantom, a menacing figure clad in a black hooded robe, approaches Scrooge. Scrooge involuntarily kneels before him and asks if he is the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. ... He promises to honor Christmas from deep within his heart and to live by the moralizing lessons of Past, Present, and Future.
Explanation:
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come appears and starts alluding to a creepy future. First, some businessmen were discussing a mysterious man's death, they don't seem to mind, and even seem joyous with his death. Next, more and more people pose negative comments about the person, ranging from bed-curtain robbers with an illegal trader, to Scrooge's own clerk (talks in a manner to not spoil the "surprise" for Scrooge). Just as Scrooge is very confused, the Ghost takes him to a graveyard after Scrooge's decree to see himself. EBENEZER SCROOGE was what appeared on the tombstone. Scrooge realizes his need of change and the threat of time, and begs the ghost to give him another chance of redemption. This chapter is the climax of A Christmas Carol, in which all the themes of redemption, forgiveness, love and family, the threat of time etc. are emphasized; stubborn Scrooge finally changes to avoid such a tragic end.
