Have you ever thought that it would be nice not to have to worry about things like capital letters and punctuation? What if you could use them any way you wanted--or not at all?

There was, in fact, a society that did just that. Ancient Greek writing contains no punctuation. There was no need to decide when to capitalize a letter, because all the letters were capitals. The earliest Greek writing did not even have spaces between words.

Here is your goal for this assignment:

Use sentence and mechanics skills in composition

For this project, you are to put your imagination to work. Picture a society (perhaps imagine yourself living in it) with no punctuation or capitalization rules. Brainstorm all the effects this could have. Perhaps you might foresee confusing or humorous situations that could arise.

Write an essay of at least 400 words illustrating your understanding of the importance of standards for capital letter and punctuation use. You may communicate this understanding through expository or narrative writing, and may be as serious or humorous as you wish, as long as you convey the idea of the importance of these language mechanics.

Remember to write an introductory paragraph and a good conclusion. Write sentences that require different kinds of punctuation. This assignment will give you an opportunity to use commas, apostrophes, hyphens, quotation marks, and parentheses.

I'm going to be talking about what it would be like to live in a society with no punctuation. Warning labels would make no sense. I personally hated this assignment so I hope you enjoy.

Warning labels would not make sense, for example the warning for a prescription drug like this "schizophrenia, anxiety, fish breath, toe enlargement, hearing loss followed by hearing enhancement at 10 second intervals, tentacle hands, Mario voice, achne, brown eyes if you don't already have them, teeth growth and crusty elbows." Would be this "schizophreniaanxietyfishbreathtoeenlargementhearinglossfollowedbyhearingenhancementat10secondintervalstentaclehandsMariovoiceachnebrowneyesifyoudon'talreadyhavethemteethgrowthandcrustyelbows." Which makes no sense.

I was thinking of all of the possibilities of what it would be like if we lived in a world with no punctuation or spaces. I figured out it would be normal to us and all of the people on earth because we would be used to living like that. But if the entire world wasn't like that and only certain parts were like that and you moved to those certain parts only then would it be hard to understand what is going on. All of the warning labels, instructions, cooking recipes and building manuals would be really hard to read if especially if the had a couple palindromes like racecar, tacocat, mom and dad which I really don't think they would have those words.

There are many more reasons why it would be confusing. Especially if you were somebody who was used to no punctuation to move to a place that uses punctuation. If somebody who was used to having all of the words to be bunched up and have no punctuation to move to somewhere that used punctuation would be really confusing to them. they would have to learn what each punctuation meant. It would probably be hard for the teacher to teach a child that doesn't know to how to use punctuation how to use punctuation.

In a summary it would be difficult to learn how to use punctuation and how to learn how to use punctuation. But if we lived in a world where we didn't use punctuation it would be totally normal to bunch and jumble up all of our words and sentences together because we woudnt know how or what punctuation is or how to use it whatsoever.
