He acts mean and tough, but in reality is a nice guy. He is very caring, since he helped Johnny and Ponyboy after Johnny killed Bob. All Dally cared about was Johnny. So when Johnny dies, he lets himself be shot by a policeman so that he could die, as there was no point of living since Johnny died.
