Tectonic plates are pieces of Earth’s crust, and mantle referred to as the lithosphere. They mainly consist of two types of material: oceanic and continental crust. Some of the most famous theories of the movement of tectonic plates involved gods of Greek mythology. For instance, many people believed the popular Greek king of the ocean, Poseidon, was responsible for Tsunamis, vicious waves, and even the expansion of the ocean. He was responsible for the movements of the ocean at the time. But nowadays, we notice, based on scientific and environmental facts, that the tectonic plates might have been shifting due to the intense heat in the Earth’s core, causing the mantle’s lithosphere to move.
