Answer:

Part 1:

You need to include a

• Title: Lab- Interdependence of Organisms

• Purpose: Measure the effect the worms have on plant growth in the population

• Question: Will adding worms to the soil affect the growth of plants?

• Hypothesis: If plants grow in soil containing worms, then the plant growth will be greater because worms help decompose organic matter and distribute it through the soil in a form that plants can use.

• Variables:

Independent- number of worms

Dependent- plant growth

Constant- the type of plant, amount of sunlight, etc.

Control-

Part 2: Materials and Procedure

Supplies- two trays, lima bean seeds, worms, location with sunlight, black marker, meter stick, graduated cylinder, water

Procedure

1. label trays for each group, control and experimental group

2. fill each tray with 6 to 7 cm of soil

3. add six lima bean seeds to each of the trays and label them 1-6

4. add 50 mL of water to each tray evenly

5. leave them in sunlight for a week

6. Measure each of the sprouts in each tray

7. Record data and average the heights for each group, control and experimental, as well as find the difference

8. add worms to the experimental group

9. after three weeks measure each of the plants, record the data, average the height, and record the difference

10. after five weeks measure each of the plants, record the data, average the height, and record the difference

Part 3: Data

Week 1:

Control

10, 9, 8, 9, 10, 8 avg. 9

Experimental

8, 9, 8, 8, 8, 7 avg. 8

Week 3:

Control

22, 23, 21, 22, 22, 23 avg. 22

Experimental

24, 28, 26, 25, 27, 26 avg. 26

Week 5:

Control

49, 47, 49, 50, 47, 52 avg. 49

Experimental

50, 60, 49, 53, 58, 60 avg. 55

Part 4: Analysis and Conclusion

Analysis: discuss the relationship between the independent independent variable, explain trends in the data, describe data points to explain the experiment outcome, interpret statistics, and interpret graphs

Conclusion: determine whether the hypothesis was supported, restate the hypothesis, state whether it is correct or incorrect, and explain.

Just did it
