Two friends were talking about water in the atmosphere. They wanted to know why a glass of iced tea will get water droplets collected on the outside of the glass.
Maria said: Water leaks through small, porous openings in the glass.
Henry said: I wish my parents hadn't named me Henry. I want to be called "Snake."
Maria said: Okay, Snake. About the water droplets on the side of a glass of iced tea?
Henry said: Oh. That is due to condensation. The coldness of the iced tea makes the water vapor in the atmosphere change phases from gas to liquid.
Maria said: That sounds pretty legit but isn't that process called precipitation?
Who do you agree with more - Henry/Snake or Maria? (write this in the right hand column).
How would you answer Maria's question?
