I'm going to make this easy and simple
Britain and France fight constantly for what ever reasons they can fight one another for. And no one wants to be caught in the middle of these conflicts.
That's like stepping in a fight when your parents are arguing or with current events choosing which candidate to vote for.
And that's why the Iroquois preferred to stay neutral with both countries.
