The mother meant that she understood that her child didn’t get from her the sense of security orcomfort that they were needing. It could also be that the mother realized that she wasn’t approachablethe way she needed to be with her children.In Harlow’s experiment they had two fake mothers onebuilt out of wire and a heating element and the other that was soft and made out of terry cloth with aheating element. Well the monkey picked the cloth mother in all conditions. So this experiment provedthat contact comfort was really an important factor for attachment and feeling secured.
