For example, pretend I had oxygen pumped into a container with fixed volume, and that the pressure was 5 atm at 0°C (remember temperature here is in Kelvin where °K = °C + 273). Then, I heated the container to 100°C and how can I find the pressure. Well, we can use the formula:

We can then solve for x. The same case for the charles law but instead, it is volume over temperature and pressure is kept constant.
