The electoral college does help the smaller states with having an "equal" say in the overall election. But the electoral college is a dinosaur way of electing officials. It's left over from pre-Civil War days. I think removing the electoral college and having the winners based on the actual popular vote would help ALL states, not just the smaller ones.
