Answer:
Humans are the only living species that we know of who can do math, right? Actually turns out that almost any animal has a sense of math in them. Even though they might not be able to do complicated math like fractions or quadratic equations everyone does in fact have a knack in mathematics. Not only can animals do simple math, in fact even preschoolers can solve problems like "Sarah has 21 candles and gets 30 more. John has 34 candles. Who has more candles?" even before they've learned how to do math with numerals and symbols. These facts are not saying that we are all secret geniuses, but it's stating that any living species has a sense of apoxiametly estimating and or adding or subtracting.
Firstly, no one claims that animals have a statistical system that is not human. Your dog does not have a dog with numbers like one, two, or three. However, new data shows that some animals can in fact addd or subtract like in Source 1 it states that “A pigeon can learn to peck a button exactly 24 times no more, no less to get a treat. It can even remember its place and resume counting if interrupted.” This supports the fact that maybe not all animals but some of them can in fact count when in a nutshell they are approximating. The news shows that the numbers are often misunderstood to indicate that animals inherited certain basic abilities from a common ancestor. However, there are some researchers who believe that the idea is very simple. Instead of inheriting the same psychic powers, animals can seek similar consequences to similar problems. This will be an example of development. Concerned about birds and bats. Both fly but lower their wings.Like stated in Source 2 “A baby chewing on her toes is not demonstrating in sign language that 12 squared is 144.” so we might be the only species able to do complicated math, but animals might be smarter than we think they are.
Secondly, if animals have a sense in simple math since birth, does that mean that babies can do simple math like adding and subtracting too? We always think that newbors and toddlers are somewhat less advanced than us but there is some evidence supporting the fact that actually no one of that might be true. Like stated in Source 2 “What does come naturally, though, is the ability to approximate”. This is explaining that everyone might not be able to do Algebra 2 but anyone in this world does in fact know how to estimate. Babies and or toddlers might not be able to multiply fractions because even some adults still dont know what 9x8 is, but they can still probably do simple things like choose the biggest pile with apples. Source 2 also states that “there must be two separate mathematical areas in our brains. One of these areas is responsible for the math we learn in school.” This supports the claim that probably everyone knows math in some sort of way even before they go to school. Babies and toddlers might not be able to factor the equation but still most likely have the sense of estimating some things.
In conclusion, almost living species has some kind of knack for mathematics. It may not be complicated math that we all can do but most likely everyone has some sense in logistics like what bush has more berries. These senses were most likely developed in the ancient times when animals and humans had to develop on how to get more food, resources, and or a bigger shelter. We may not have noticed it for a long time but animals have probably developed that skill too. Some of us might not be in Geometry but that doesnt mean that we all dont have a sense in mathematics. It is scientifically proven after all these experiments done on humans and animals that we all have a knack in math.
