This process involves two events such as inspiration where air enter into lungs, secondly expiration, air leaves the lungs.
Exchange of gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place in lungs between the alveoli and capillaries which are tiny blood vessels.
Oxygen is passed from the lungs to the bloodstream where as carbon dioxide is eliminated from the bloodstream to the lungs.
Thus, high concentration of oxygen in lungs leads to oxygen to move towards low concentration in blood stream.
