It is easier to be found guilty in a civil trial. In a criminal trial, a crime must be proved “beyond a reasonable doubt”, meaning there is no doubt in the judge or all jury members mind. In civil, cases are proved by evidence which is a lower standard of proof. All the lawyer has to do is provide sufficient evidence.
