Permafrost is ground that remains frozen after a long period of time, and is in places like the Arctic. If it melts, then the Arctic is a step closer to melting because the ground will then be softer and not frozen over. As the Arctic melts, glaciers do, too. As glaciers melt the sea levels will rise due to more water, and that is a main problem due to climate change.
