In brief, he was a polish electrician who worked at the Gdansk shipyards in Poland, he was an important figure in organising the protests at the shipyard in 1989, he also helped make Poland's first trade Union, 'Solidarnosc' (Solidarity) which eventually led to the fall of the communist regime, and so the fall of the iron curtain and Communism in Europe, later on he was elected the first president of Poland.
