Heat energy is produced by friction
Explanation:
Friction between two objects resists the movement of one object over the other sliding object. Whenever two objects come into direct contact, a friction is produced.
Friction converts some of the mechanical energy or kinetic energy of the motion into heat energy.
When two hands are rubbed together, the palms become warm due to production of heat energy due to friction.
This energy conversion during friction is termed as coulomb damping.
