Carrying genetic material, being able to reproduce, growing by feeding on other organisms and lacking natural characteristics which is important for an organism to be considered as life, viruses can be considered as a life form to some.Even though viruses include proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates but they are saprophytic and parasitic as they have to get inside another host's body to feed on for reproducing. Without other cells, viruses wouldn't be able to reproduce and eventually die. Therefore, viruses are not living things. In my opinion, they should not be classified as life.
