BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is the system which is responsible for handling of the operations of input and output at an basic level. It helps in providing the services to the operating system and rather than being a operating system itself. While the providing services like booting up and initializing of hardware are handled by BIOS.
But , BIOS cannot work as the main system for executing the complex and real management operation. These operation and functioning of the system is caused by the operating system .
Thus there is the need of the OS because BIOS only supports in the preparation of the operating system.
