Barrage holds tidal water before releasing it through a turbine.

Barrage can be defined as the kind of a low head; it works for diversion in which the dam contains large number of gates which are usually used to control the flow of the water in the dam.
So it can be opened and closed according to the requirement. By the process it also helps in controlling the flow of the river water to get into the dam.
