Bob and Sue paint their baby’s room pink as soon as they find out they are having a girl. They are beginning to provide the baby with GENDER NORMATIVE STANDARDS (also known as gender role).
Within gender norms, social standards and/or stereotypes for femininity and masculinity and are placed by gender such as: blue for boys and pink for girls, dresses for girls and pants for boys, bows for girls, cars for boys, boys are tough and girls are sweet, etc.
