The last movie that deals about numbers is Hidden Figures that stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe as real-life NASA mathematicians Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, respectively. The three battle their way through recognition of their work and to receive more challenging work in the 1960s.

  • Pi (1998) Directed by Darren Aronofsky and Produced by Eric Watson. This version is classified as in an American neo-noir psychological horror genre.

        The title, of course, references the mathematical constant - pi. The        

        movie draws a parallel between religion, mysticism, the universe and

        mathematics.    

  • The Life of Pi released in 2012 is an adventure-drama movie. It was directed and produced by Ang Lee and written by David Magee. The Life of Pi based on Yann Martel's novel centers around an Indian 16-year old vegetarian who due to the inability of his peers to correctly pronounce his name sets about renaming himself. He gets their attention by memorizing over 20 digits from the mathematical constant Pi. Soon enough, the name sticks. Finding himself traveling through the Pacific Ocean along with a ferocious Bengal tiger in a lifeboat, he must survive or be eaten by the tiger or the ocean.
