In my last dutches by Robert Browning the dukes use of the word stoop in these lines shows that he______?

A. Is willing to make compromises with his wife
B. Avoids getting into conflicts with other people
C.Acknowledges that his complaints about her are minor
D. thinks that discussing his wife’s behavior is beneath him

Respuesta :

Robert Browning published “My Last Duchess” in 1842 in a book of poems titled Dramatic Lyrics. In the poem the Duke of Ferrara describes the circumstances in which the portrait of his “last duchess” was painted and the fate of this unfortunate former woman.

The duchess’s genial nature was enough to throw the Duke into a jealous rage… We are guessing he had her killed.

In the lines “who’d stoop to blame / this sort of trifling” the Duke asks his listener: who would actually lower himself and bother to have an argument with the Duchess about her indiscriminate behaviour.

The word “stoop” in these lines shows that he thinks that discussing his wife’s behaviour is beneath him.
