Differences:
Strawberry plants have seven chromosomes; normally there are two sets of these. There can be 2, 4, 5, 6,7, 8, or 10 sets. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46.

Similarities:
Human and strawberries have the same DNA structure.

The DNA of a strawberry plant and that of human would essentially be the same in terms of structure. This is because the DNAs of all living organisms are similar in terms of structure and chemical components.

In other words, the similarity between strawberry and human DNA include:

  • They both contain deoxyribose sugar
  • they both contain phosphate groups
  • they both contain purine and pyrimidine nitrogenous bases

However, the DNA in humans is diploid (2n). That is, there are two copies of every DNA. Whereas, the DNA in strawberries is octoploid (8n). That is, there are eight copies of every DNA.

This means that strawberries have four times as much DNA as humans. This attribute makes strawberries an excellent source of DNA isolation for experimental studies.
