The reason why Herbert Hoover lost to Franklin Roosevelt in the 1932 elections, was majorly because when started the great depression on october 29, 1929 (caused by the fall of the US stock market), the president of the U.S who was at that time Herbert Hoover (a republican U.S. president from 1929 to 1933) decided to don't intervene in the great depression with the argument that the crisis was temporary and the government can't intervene because the financial market participants had to fix that problems, so due to that, his popularity fell too much, because the national economy continued to deteriorate as time progressed and people were too affected by the deep crisis that lasted almost 10 years, so for that reason, the people criticized Herbert Hoover due to He didn't do anything to fix the crisis and to enhance the people life conditions of that hard time. Whereby, the people wanted a change that would help them to finish the great crisis in which they were, thus that the people decided to choose Franklin Roosevelt (who was a democrat candidate) in the elections of 1932.

The reason Herbert Hoover lost to Franklin Roosevelt in the 1932 election because Roosevelt has accused Hoover several times of being responsible for the Great Depression and a worsening economy.
