the temperature of a solution can change the solubility of a substance. The chart shows solubility of the same solute at different temperatures in water.
W: temp- 40 | 100g water- 50
X: temp- 59 | 100g water- 200
Y: temp- 55 | 100g water- 150
Z: temp- 48 | 100g water- 80

Based on the chart, which solution was at the optimal temperature to allow the greatest solubility?
W
X
Y
Z
(Also, i know the answer is not Y)

Respuesta :

The answer is; X

The higher the temperatures the higher the number of solutes it can dissolve until saturation is reached. The higher the temperatures of the liquid the higher the kinetic energy of their molecules. Usually, dissolving of a solute in a solvent is generally an endothermic reaction. Therefore, adding heat to the liquid  facilitates the dissolving reaction by providing energy to break bonds in the solute.

I think the answer is is X
