To solve this equation you will need common demoninators. So, find a number that both 3 and 2 can go into. They can both go into 6. Whatevr you do to the denominator, you have to do to the numerator. Since we multiplied 3 times 2 to get 6, we multiply the numerator 2 by 2 as well leaving us with 4/6. Do the same to the other fraction. 2 times 3 is 6, so 1 times 3 is 3. We are left with 4/6 and 3/6. Now we add! 4 + 3 is 7 so as an improper fraction it would be 7/6. As a mixed number and proper fraction it would be 1  1/6. So your answer is approximately 1  1/6.
