One of the meats that is the most demanded on the market is the beef, and one of the most demanded natural resources is the natural gas. Because of this, both the number of cattle is growing, and the extraction and usage of natural gas is growing too.

In order to get to beef, a cow has to be raised, but the cows are letting out lots of gasses, and one of those gasses is the methane. The methane is one of the Greenhouse gasses, and in a period of 100 years its effect is much bigger than the effect of the carbon dioxide. So by increasing the number of cattle, they increase the amount of methane released into the atmosphere.

The natural gas is in general much less damaging than the gasoline and the coal for example in its carbon dioxide emissions when its burned, but the problem in here is also the methane. During the extraction and transportation of the natural gas, parts of it leaks, and it releases methane (one of its main components) into the atmosphere, so it contributes to the Greenhouse effect much more than what is generally thought.
