The following table shows the seasons experienced by four different locations on Earth during four different months of the year.

Location Month Season
A December Summer
B March Spring
C June Winter
D September Fall

Part 1: In which hemisphere would you most likely find each of the four locations?

Part 2: Use complete sentences to justify your answer based on your knowledge of why seasons occur.

Respuesta :

Part 1: The Southern Hemisphere is where you would most likely find these four locations.

Part 2: You would most likely find these locations in the Southern Hemisphere because in the Northern Hemisphere, they have the opposite season as the southern. An example would be when the northern hemisphere has winter, the southern hemisphere would have summer. The main reason why this happens is because of earth’s axis, while it rotates around the sun it also spins and tilts on its axis, the spin gives us day and night while the tilt gives us seasons.

Answer:

Part 1: Southern Hemisphere

Part 2: Seasons occur due to the tilt of the axis of the Earth.

Explanation:

Earth revolves around the Sun. Its orbit is nearly circular. Seasons occur on earth due to the tilt of the axis (23.5°). Due to tilt, sometimes northern hemisphere points towards the sun and sometimes away. The hemisphere which points towards the sun experiences summer and the one away experiences winter. In December, southern hemisphere points towards the sun and hence has summers and winters in June.
