[tex] 2 \frac 3 4 \text{ cups} \times \dfrac{1 \textrm{ dumpling}}{ \frac 3 {16} \textrm{ cup}} = \frac{11}{4} \times \frac{16}{3} = \frac{44}{3} = 14 \frac 2 3 \textrm{ dumplings}[/tex]
We're asked for how many whole dumplings, so that's 14.
[tex] x + 8.63 = 11.001[/tex]
[tex] x = 11.001 - 8.63 = 2.371 [/tex]
[tex] \text{area} = \textrm{base} \times \textrm{height} = 5 \frac 1 4 \times 4 \frac 1 5 = \frac {21}{4} \times \frac{21}{5} = \frac{441}{20} \textrm{ sq in} = 22 \frac 1 {20} \textrm{ sq in}[/tex]
