What was the purpose of the Dada movement? Do you think that the principles of Dada are applicable in today's society?

Respuesta :

Dadaism was an art movement in response to the appalling nature of WWI. The artists were stating their disagreement with the values of a society that could begin and continue to act in such a destructive war with seemingly no end. The art poked fun at society and politics by using a surreal sense of humor that confused people.

I think dadaism still applies today, it’s similiar to how people continue to use humor while coping with difficult situations. In the U.S. we also have ongoing and strong politacally moral debates with expressed disagreement using art, music, and charicature.

hope this helps

Answer:

The purpose of the Dada movement was to protest contemporary culture and change the perception of art through use of humor and confusing elements. I believe that the principles of Dada are applicable in today's society because there is still a counter-culture and Dada allows for unique perspectives and beliefs to be expressed.
