Every day, you see, hear, smell, taste and feel stimuli from the outside world. collecting data about that world is the function of sensation, and interpreting the data collected is the function of perception. The two terms are used in psychology to denote how people interpret world. Sensation occurs when sensory information is detected by a sensory receptor. Perception on the other hand is the way sensory information is organized, interpreted, and consciously experienced.
