Social movements consist of large numbers of people who are dissatisfied about things and organize either to promote or to resist social change.
All members of the social movement work toward a common goal. There are several different types of social movement : proactive social movement find a particular condition of society intolerable, so  people join together to promote social change,  while the reactive social movements  react to resist some social change.
