which selection is a good example of imagery? As the train emerged from the tunnel, Kira blinked in the bright light that was suddenly flooding the train car. She moved to the window and stared out, fascinated by what she saw. The train was circling a wide bay filled with bright-blue sparkling water. Leafy green islands clustered with red, pink, and yellow houses dotted the bay, and between the islands ran an intricate system of bridges. Kira felt a longing to explore them, but of course the train was only passing by. Kira knew from the map that the train station was halfway around the bay, and she began to feel the deep rumble of the engines fade away as they approached it. She opened her window and was greeted with a breath of spicy, salty air, briny but also faintly citrus scented. The screeching of gulls mingled with a musical jangle of bells, which Kira thought must be coming from somewhere near the station. Hadn't she read somewhere about a village famous for its bells? Or was that just a dream? Kira leaned out the window. "Perhaps my uncle will be getting on here," she thought, before catching herself. She knew by now that such speculation was foolish.
