As an old king, a dragon attacks the Geats. Dragons attack when even one piece of their wealth is taken. A peasant takes a small golden lamp from the dragon’s treasure. This begins the attacks.


Beowulf’s men see blood gushing through the water while they are standing by the lake. They assume it must be Beowulf who has been killed.

This battle takes place in the monster’s underwater kingdom – Beowulf swims there alone when to fight her.

Beowulf rules for 50 years and leads the Geats to long-life and riches.

The Geats make a huge funeral pyre for Beowulf and tell stories of his adventures in their grief.

Beowulf then goes to the dead Grendel who is lying in the cave and cuts off his head as a trophy. Sword melts to the hilt.

Beowulf takes none of the surrounding treasure with him.

Beowulf makes Wiglaf the new king, which is signified by giving Wiglaf a small ring from the treasure.

After their King Hyglac dies, the Geats make Beowulf king
