Artificial intelligence (AI) has many complex implications for humanity and is impacting the human rights of different individuals in a variety of ways. Reviewing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, select three rights that are being or could be impacted by artificial intelligence.
A) Right to privacy: AI algorithms may infringe upon individuals' privacy by collecting and analyzing personal data without consent, affecting everyone who uses digital platforms.
B) Right to freedom of expression: AI-powered content moderation systems may censor or suppress certain viewpoints, impacting marginalized communities and individuals who rely on online platforms to express themselves.
C) Right to equal protection under the law: AI-based decision-making systems used in criminal justice, hiring, and lending processes may perpetuate biases, discriminating against minority groups and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Addressing these negative effects requires increased transparency, accountability, and ethical oversight in the development and deployment of AI technologies.
