Choose at least two works that explore a shared theme and identify major similarities and/or differences in each text's exploration of that theme, citing specific textual examples from each work and comparing/contrasting the literary devices/techniques these works use to achieve their respective thematic ideas. You may discuss differences in genre, form, and historical context as well as significant stylistic features of each text. Your ultimate goal should be to present some original argument or insight that arises from reading your chosen texts alongside one another rather than in isolation. You may choose from any of the texts that we have read so far in class, but at least one of your choices should come from our fiction unit. In other words, you may choose to compare one work from our fiction unit to another work from this same unit or you may relate your chosen work of fiction to one of the works from our poetry unit, but please do not select your texts exclusively from the poetry unit.
