As Eva and her friends talked after school, they asked and answered questions in various forms. Let's look first at the questions that contain an interrogative, or a question word. As in the examples shown below, these usually start with the question word itself, and they have both an inverted question mark at the beginning of the sentence and a regular one at the end. Note too that when these questions include a subject, the subject comes after the verb, while in most statements the subject precedes the verb. In this question type, you see the punctuation in written text, but there is no rise in intonation while speaking.
