Step 1: Select a funny or humorous picture from the Internet (or any picture that is appropriate for school.
Step 2: Imagine/create a story in your mind about that picture (totally made up and shouldn't be real).
Step 3: Write a newspaper article as if you are a news reporter, and be sure to include the following:
A) At least 300 words (you can go over, and going over may end up with "above and beyond" extra credit)
B) At least two quotes from two pretend interviews (my example had a squirrel and a snake being interviewed)
C) Break up your 300 words into smaller paragraphs like my example (newspapers do this on purpose to make the read
feel quick)
D) Do your best on spelling, grammar, and punctuation
E) If you get done early, look it over and make corrections as if it were a DOL test, and if you're comfortable, have a peer
look it over
