Monthly Precept Reflection
September's Precept
"BE KIND; FOR EVERYONE YOU MEET IS FIGHTING A BATTLE YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT"
What do you think this precept means?
I think this precept means be kind to everyone you meet because you don't know what everyone is going through. This
quote means to be aware that other people struggle, not always visibly, just as you do, and to extend them some
sympathy because of it. For example when you are talking to someone they don't actually show how they feel, they
pretend to be happy and act like nothing happened. When you're kind you might make more friends since you are helping
them to be happy and have a great day.
Why do you think this precept is a life lesson that everyone should understand, appreciate, and follow?
Give an example to support your response.
I think this precept is a life lesson that everyone should understand, appreciate and follow because you have to try to
imagine what it's like to wear someone else's shoes and walk their path in life. Even if you think you can imagine it, it's
probably like nothing you imagined.
How does this precept relate to you personally? Give an example to support your response.
(If it does not, please relate the precept to someone who you know exudes this precept each and everyday -
perhaps motivating you to work towards it.)
